Stab binding is a versatile and beautiful way to make handbound books, and one that I use with commissions often. This is the first time I've run a workshop in this method and I'm excited to share my tips and tricks. A perfect chance to gather with a friend for a quiet day of making, fueled by tasty refreshments.

Led by a professional bookbinder, you’ll learn how to make a two handbound books using traditional and contemporary techniques. You’ll leave with one hardcover and one softcover book, and the skills to make more at home. What’s really special about these structures is the beautiful exposed spine sewing, a true sign that these books have been made by hand, and you'll learn two different sewing patterns.

There will be an abundance of high quality materials to choose from, and because we’re gathering in my studio you’ll have access to the full range of equipment, materials and tools.

Workshops run from 10am - 5pm from my studio in Bridgeton in the East End of Glasgow. Close to train links, with plenty of free on street parking. Please let me know at the time of booking if you have any dietary requirements as I'll be providing snacks and refreshments.
