Intro series - bind a personalised photo album - 8.6.25
Sunday 8th June
10am - 5pmish
Making photo albums is a great skill to have, but requires a bit of a knack that's slightly different from making a standard notebooks. In this class I'm excited to share my process, which allows prints, photos and ephemera to be added without making the book bulky.
Led by a professional bookbinder, you’ll learn how to make a bespoke A5 photo album hand using traditional and contemporary techniques. You’ll leave with a one-off album to gift or keep for yourself.
We’ll learn:
How to sew an exposed sewing pattern
Methods to attach photos and ephemera to your album pages
How to foil block a custom title
Making a hard cover
Allowing space for contents to be added
We'll hand sew our pages, creating a beautiful sewn pattern on the spine. We’ll also add a gold title to the cover using my foil blocking press to make it really special.
There will be an abundance of high quality materials to choose from, and because we’re gathering in my studio you’ll have access to the full range of equipment, materials and tools.
Please let me know at the time of booking if you have any dietary requirements.
Workshops run from 10am - 5pm from my studio in Bridgeton in the East End of Glasgow. Close to train links, with plenty of free on street parking. Suitable for beginners as well as bookbinders looking to learn a new structure.
Hope to see you there!
Please note that workshop places are limited and only run if a certain number of places are booked. Bookings are non-refundable unless a replacement can be found. Please make sure you can make the date before booking.
