Online bookbinding workshop

I’m thrilled to be able to offer this online workshop, where you’ll learn how to bind a book by hand in your own home, using traditional bookbinding skills and materials. Perfect for learning a new skill!

The kit, posted out to you, will contain all the professional tools and materials you’ll need to make your book by hand. The tools have been carefully selected to start you off right on your bookbinding journey.

Once you order, you’ll receive a password and link to a pre-recorded workshop, where I’ll lead you through the process from start to finish, sharing traditional skills from the world of bookbinding and tricks of the trade. The workshop will be available to you for life, letting you pause and re-watch the video, so that you can follow along at your own pace.

This method, known as Link Stitch or ‘coptic’, makes a feature of the beautiful hand sewing on the spine. The pages open completely flat to let your ideas spread across the full page. Suitable for beginners and those with a little experience. Recommended for over 14s due to sharp tools.

There are three options of kit to choose from:

• Complete kit - this contains professional materials cut to size, professional bookbinding tools and access to the live online workshop. Perfect for those new to bookbinding or as a gift.

• Materials kit - this is for those with bookbinding tools already. Includes the materials cut to size and access to the live online workshop

• Workshop only - I’ll send a cutting list so you can prepare the materials beforehand

You can also order a refill of materials, so that you can practice your new skills!

Material kit contains:
128 plain pages of 150gsm FSC certified paper
Bookbinders board, cut to size
Linen thread
Decorative paper for covers
Hole punching guides

Tool kit includes:
Bookbinders needle - curved

Paper folder - either bone or Teflon
Bulldog clip
Brush

Waste paper (like a newspaper)
An old magazine or yellow pages
