Advanced series - inlays and onlays - 21.6.25
Saturday 21st June 2025
10am - 5pmish
Juju Books, Bridgeton
Leather is a material often associated with bookbinding, but one that can be hard to work with. During this workshop I’ll share my techniques for creating dynamic leather inlays and onlays, opening up a huge range of possibilities for your bindings.
During this one day workshop we’ll cover:
How to make a leather test panel - essential for design sampling and practice
Creating cushioned onlays
Demo of backpared onlays
Feathered onlays
Flush leather inlays
Channeled inlays
When to edge pare
Each participant will leave with a test panel of several methods and the skills to use these techniques on their books.
This workshop is best suited to participants with experience of handling bookbinding tools. Experience of leather is not necessary.
All tools and materials are included, including a range of hand dyed leathers.
Workshops run from my studio in the east end of Glasgow. Good transport links and plenty of free on street parking. I’ll keep us fueled during the day with teas, coffees and snacks. We’ll stop for lunch, and there are local lunch spots or you can bring a packed lunch.
Please note that workshop places are limited and only run if a certain number of places are booked. Bookings are non-refundable unless a replacement can be found. Please make sure you can make the date before booking.
