Advanced series - intro to working and dyeing leather - 5-6 July

Leather is an incredibly versatile materia, opening up a huge range of possibilities in creating designs and repairs. During this workshops I’ll share my techniques for dyeing leather, and we’ll then use our dyed leathers to create a handbound hardcover rounded book.
During this two day workshop we’ll learn:
Different leathers used in bookbinding
Several methods of dyeing leathers to create custom and dynamic results
Sewing a book using tapes
Rounding our books using thumbs and backing hammer
Introduction to paring leather using a scalpel, knife and paring machine
Using paste to shape our leather headcaps
Creating a leather spine and cloth boards
All materials and tools are included, as well as snacks and refreshments. Spaces are limited to ensure lots of attention.
